The Apple.com Internet site was temporarily out of order during normal business hours today. Users attempting to access Apple.com for approximately 7 minutes prior to 1836 GMT (2:36PM Eastern U.S. time) received various error messages:
That's a little embarrassing for a technology company but quite understood at a firm getting so much attention on Wall St. and around the world.
The outage was almost instantly noted by bloggers in the UK, Germany, and the United States. In America Apple.com was plainly described as being "Down." In jolly old England Apple.com was said to be "borked", and in Germany the situation was described this way, "www.apple.com mit Schluckauf". The latter phrase is translated as "Apple.com has the hiccups." Interesting, indeed!
